Dave Murray said… Hi Caroline, It sure has been busy! Our state House passed a series of landmark tenure reform bills last week, and I expect several other big changes for education to be headed for a vote this week. I've given up trying to stay sane...
Love this new site!

Dave Murray said… Hi Caroline,
They're working on it. The Race to the Top application changes allowed evaluations to be negotiated at the district level to get the union buy-in. But the governor in late April called for tougher evaluations based at least 40 percent on test scores. Lawmakers are still working on coming up with a system, but nothing has been released at this point.
Molly Walsh said… Wrote recently about Vermont's largest school district posting a budget deficit, the fourth or fifth in a row. Would be great to find a resource who could help reporters who aren't CPAs interpret annual school district audits. Impenetrable by design I think.
Caroline Hendrie said… That's a great suggestion, Molly. We had a somewhat related session at our last National Seminar. But your idea is more targeted. I'll keep it in mind as we plan our programming. Do you think a webinar might be a good format?
